Bafta Long List Nominations Released!

Bafta have released the long list nominations for the 2010 ceremony. Featuring heavily is The Hurt Locker (my film of last year along with Let The Right One In), Moon, Inglourious Basterds and Avatar. Up for the sound gong this year are:

Avatar

District 9

An Education

Fantastic Mr Fox

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

The Hurt Locker

Inglourious Basterds

The Lovely Bones

Moon

Nine

Nowhere Boy

The Road

Star Trek

Up

Where the Wild Things Are

I haven't seen all of the above, but recently watched Star Trek and the sound was immense. I expect Up will be right up there, and The Hurt Locker was also fantastic. Disappointing not to see Let The Right One In getting a nod for sound, or possibly the best film for sound of the past year, Katalin Varga. If you haven't watched that yet, make sure you catch it on Blu-Ray. Lynch-esque sound with a backdrop of the Romanian countryside alongside a revenge story. Stunning and inspired. Looking forward to seeing who wins from the above list though, some big guns there. Also, if Christoph Waltz doesn't get the best supporting actor award for his performance as Col. Hans Lander in Inglorious Basterds, there's no justice in the world!
